The GeSI workshop "Connected City- the Greener Future" was organised by the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) on 16 October 2012 in Shenzhen, China.  The one-day event examined how the deployment of ICT solutions in sectors such as energy, housing and transport can turn the challenges of today's cities into opportunities for greening the world economy.

Objectives:

*    Showcase state-of-the-art ICT solutions in areas like transport, energy and housing, highlighting the efficiencies that can be achieved by connected cities as well as the need for cross-sector collaboration to achieve the necessary scale;
*    Encourage Chinese companies to become engaged in the climate effort by making the business case for developing smart ICT solutions;
