The Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) is pleased to announce the second annual ICT Leadership Index to recognize exceptional performance by top suppliers of its members in the field of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices. The ICT Leadership Index identifies best-in-class companies across four ICT super-sectors (Tertiary services, Telecom & infrastructure, Manufacturing of electronic components, and Manufacture & assembly of ICT equipment) based on their CSR performance rating.

GeSI's vision is to promote leadership in sustainability, recognizing that sustainability in the ICT industry supply chain is a strategic issue for its members. Their mission is to encourage performance and achievement-driven continuous improvement in sustainability as a key driver to ensure long-term progress in environmental and social practices. Responsible supply chain management is a key part of GeSI's holistic approach to sustainability, oriented on the three key areas of equitable growth, people's quality of life, and environment protection, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which GeSI has made its framework for action up to 2030.

The Electronic Tool for Accountable Supply Chains (E-TASC), powered by the technology and expertise of EcoVadis, is a fundamental component of this effort, allowing currently 13 GeSI member companies to evaluate the CSR performance of their supplier base. Since its inception, E-TASC has scaled to engage over 3000 suppliers.

The sustainability performance rating is based on an assessment of companies' CSR management systems on four themes - Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Fair Business Practices/Ethics and Supply Chain - which is verified by the EcoVadis CSR expert analysts. Changes to the Leadership Index methodology for this year include an increase in the minimum theme score requirement, as well as increasing recognition beyond a single leader and adding honourable mentions for the two runners-up for each super-sector and size.
