Programme Assistant

Based in Brussels, the GeSI Programme Assistant is a full-time permanent role responsible for supporting the GeSI Secretariat in managing administration, assisting with communication activities, financial reporting, and supporting stakeholder engagement. 

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining communication materials including: monthly newsletters, website, content and storytelling pieces, press releases, events calendar and social media 
  • Monitor media publications for member and industry news
  • Manage membership and activity programme enquiries
  • Oversee stakeholder database, distribution lists, and content management system (CMS)
  • Support event management and represent GeSI at industry events and conferences
  • Manage member and Board meetings logistics including scheduling, minute taking and follow-up
  • Maintain close communication and regular reporting with GeSI Board and Members
  • Assist in the management of operational expenses and monthly financial reporting
  • Support development of annual operational and activity budgets
  • Support office logistics, IT (hardware and software), communications and other tasks as necessary to ensure the GeSI office runs smoothly

Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in social sciences, political science or environmental sciences
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience (2 years with Master’s degree) at an international institution, NGO, or industry association with a global reach
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sustainability issues, climate change, Sustainable Development Goals, and ICT industry
  • A passion for the environment and/or technology
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, high level of French proficiency required, Dutch is a plus  
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of software such as: Mailchimp, Wordpress, Microsoft 365
  • A team-oriented self-starter with excellent organisational skills, with ability to work independently and with a team, as well as take ownership of and manage a range of tasks and activities at the same time.

This is a permanent role with a degree of flexibility. We do encourage careful consideration of agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for the Secretariat and its Members.

Candidates must either be an EU-citizen or already be in possession of a work permit in Belgium.
