World Resources Forum Association

WRF envisions the world where influential decision-makers, established civil societies, key industrial players, leading scientists and the empowered public interact and communicate on setting the agenda and developing solutions on sustainable use of resources worldwide, paying close attention to the delicate interplay between the economic, social and environmental implications of resource use as well as acknowledging the challenges of increasing pressure on available resources. Through this interaction of multiple stakeholders, innovative and effective solutions emerge, addressing the issue of efficiency and sufficiency of resource utilization amongst consumers, producers and waste management sector, establishing sustainable practices of resources use worldwide.

Mission: Core purposes and objectives
WRF is an independent non-profit international organization that serves as a platform connecting and fostering knowledge exchange on resources management amongst business leaders, policy-makers, NGOs, scientists and the public. We aim to make our vision of sustainable use of resources worldwide a reality through organization of high-level international conferences and capacity-building workshops, dissemination of relevant research findings and scientific discussions, development of resource efficiency indices, setting standards for sustainable resource use, creation of opportunities for financing resource efficiency projects as well as through engagement with young leaders and the wider public. WRF is committed to the inclusiveness of economic growth and elimination of poverty and marginalization, thus making these issues a core element in any objectives we pursue.

Values: WRF’s key values
Equity
The platform should be inclusive, meaning that any interested person or group should have equal chances, opportunities, means and rights to participate in it, as well as to benefit from all its knowledge-exchange.
Dialogue
The transfer, exchange and sharing of information should be reciprocal, i.e. from the WRFA to its members and the general public, and vice versa. Dialogue and effective consensus within the platform should be a constant practice.
Cooperation
Collaboration, solidarity, support, team-work and joint effort between a community of people who share an interest or an objective will facilitate achievement of proposed goals, since individual strengths are maximized, while weaknesses are minimized. Collaboration should be based on mutual respect and commitment among all parties engaged.
Independence
The WRFA should not be subject to any ideology and nor should it serve government or private interests, thus ensuring that its activities are performed without any kind of external influence or bias.
Transparency
Accountability and good governance are the two key elements to achieve transparency. The WRFA should be accountable and committed to society through regular comprehensive publication of its donor relations and partner selection criteria, as well as its programme activities and financial reporting
