World Population Day is a day to recognize issues among our population, from gender equality, poverty, and human rights, it's important to understand these problems because it creates a stronger sense of awareness to our world. This year, the main theme of World Population Day is gender equality and uplifting the voices of women and girls in our world to create an equal and sustainable environment. Women and girls represent 49.7% of our population but are still extremely underrepresented in our modern-day world. Only 6 countries have women holding 50% or more of the roles in parliament and women have higher rates of poverty than men across almost all races and ethnicities.
